I’m in one of those delightful stages where I’m working on many things but can’t get away with telling you about them yet. 
So, I’ll tell you some news for other people instead.
I’m sad to hear that this may be the last year for the Melissa Nathan Comedy Romance Awards. Don’t know who Melissa is? She’s better known in England, but a number of her books circulate in the US as well. I was invited to sing at her awards ceremony a couple of years ago but wasn’t able to make it over to London to do so, sadly. Melissa lost her battle with breast cancer a few years ago, but the spunk, humor and creativity that she expressed during her battle are more than admirable. I was encouraged to see how well Gabrielle Giffords is looking. She’s a real fighter. Not everyone could take a bullet to the head and come out of it rocking a new short hair cut with a beaming smile. Still a long road of recovery for her, but with her astronaut husband by her side she’s bound to go far. (Separate note: why is her husband allllways mentioned in the press as being an astronaut? Why can’t he just be a loving husband or a guy named Mark? See what I mean in this LA Times article: http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-gabrielle-giffords-tucson-20110617,0,873964.story)
In less dramatic news, a couple of great indie songwriters recently celebrated birthdays: Michelle Featherstone & Butterfly Boucher. I discovered after a bit that this song shared a chord progression with a song I’d also written (but haven’t bothered releasing because I’m not yet pleased with the piano and guitar instrumentation).
